Setting up a Local JFORCES WebServer (including setting up the search engine)

The JFORCES installation employs the Apache Webserver in an ALMOST default setup. Currently we're running Apache 2.0. The default configuration is used EXCEPT for the Common Gateway Interface files (CGI). These are under a new location to simplify packaging by keeping all of our code under a html directory.

All webdocuments and scripts are under an html directory. By default this is under /var/www/html under Linux. To make the webserver recognize the CGIs, you have to change the CGI location in /etc/httpd/confi/httpd.d as follows:

ScriptAlias /cgi "/var/www/html/cgi"
# "/var/www/cgi-bin" should be changed to whatever your ScriptAliased
# CGI directory exists, if you have that configured.
<Directory "/var/www/html/cgi">
    AllowOverride None
    Options None
    Order allow,deny
    Allow from all

To invoke these changes you'll have to restart the webserver by logging in as root and issuing "service httpd restart".
